"We are working with high profile developers in Shah Alam and Putrajaya and there is also possible penetration into Sabah and Sarawak. In fact, interested developers from Canada and Australia have also shown kennness in our products," says Ralph Yew Eng
Teik, iNix Technologies business development manager in an interview with Just Property at their smart home showhouse in Subang
Jaya. |

"We are a 100% Malaysian developer and the Secure Smith system is a 100% in-house full-grown technology. We are also one of Malaysian Venture Capital Management Berhad's
(MAVCAP) portfolio companies,"says Yew, who also notes that the company is now ready to move aggressively to push the Secure Smith systems locally and overseas. |

Coincidental Start |
| Why a smart home system? The company believes its solution fits a real need. The company's birth in 1995 was actually a coincidence when iNix confounder and CEO Jimmy Tok Soon Guan came home to find his house burgled. His expensive alarm system had been triggered; even his neighbors were not bothered about it. Unable to find and intelligent home security system which would protect his home the way he wanted, Tok and his partner Cheong Kok Yai established PC Sentry Sdn Bhd to design and develop a home security system which met their needs. |
The result was their
Micro Sentinel home alarm system, which is still on display today at the mini-museum in their office. The duo also developed the Sentinel Pro Intelligent home security and automation system. The managed to sell close to 300 of those systems, mainly to end-users. In April this year, PC Sentry
incorporated iNix as a subsidiary to more aggressively market its systems, as they were confident that the local market was ready for intelligent home systems.

Recently, iNix released its new enhanced
Secure Smith system, which combines wired security switches and wireless security, all in one main board. According to Yew, the new hybrid system has the best of wired, wireless digital radio frequency and power line carrier methods of
tranceiving. For property developers with exiting houses, there will be no hacking work when it comes to the installation of this smart home system into their projects. No structured cabling is required for all installation, resulting in great cost savings and seamless integration. |

Tok believes
Secure Smith is one of the few integrated systems available in market. Citing an example, he says - "if someone breaks in, the alarm will be triggered and the system will call the pre-programmed telephone numbers. It then turns on the light and the CCTV starts recording. The siren goes off simultaneously. The system could also prepare comprehensive reporting on when the calls were made, when the light were switches on, etc. |
Recalling the development of the system, Tok stresses that a security system must be able to call the homeowner when there is a break-in. "But then again, if I don't get a call, does that mean my house if safe?" so for that peace of mind, we incorporated the "call back to home feature." |
While vacationing recently, Tok called the system to check on the home and was told there had been a break-in attempt. "The system told me there was an intruder but I could not see what was happening. So we started designing the system to enable the user to view the house anywhere in the world via a PC or laptop. I was happy with the system until much later when I tried calling while on another vacation. I could not see anything because it was dark. Upon my return, we started designing a system to control the lighting remotely," he explains. |

Tok sums-up Secure Smith as security system that:
1. not only enhance security, but saves time and lives
2. trigger best response from neighbors ( a neighborhood watch)
3. watches on what is happening at home (control over servants' movements)
4. helps people who are busy and constantly on the move
5. manages security while on vacation (provide a sense of security)
6. is competitively-priced (starts from RM1,399), reliable and cost-efficient. |
